Problems Regarding Salmonella:

Some problems that started this outbreak in May, 2009 could have been caused by the following, it could've started when an animal's feces hit the soil. It also could've been from salmonella getting in the water before being poured onto the peanut plants themselves.

Some Solutions to the Problem:

1) The process of roasting the peanuts would kill the Salmonella right from the beginning. Therefore not getting into your peanut butter in the first place, saving lives, and not to mention the 40,000 sick people from this lack of attention to detail.

2) Keep the water Sanitized. have a better process for cleaning up the water used in the growing and in the production aspects of making our beloved peanut butter.

3) Try to keep it Dry. Keep the water out of any process that don't require it to be there. Salmonella does not thrive as well in dryer environments
